St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne operates in a healthcare environment where people need to find important information quickly and understand what to do next. The project focused on making that information easier to access through a considered digital experience.
The design challenge
A content-rich healthcare website serves people with different needs and levels of familiarity. Page hierarchy and navigation need to provide clear routes without adding uncertainty or overwhelming the reader.
Scope
My contribution covered visual design, UI and UX. Priority user journeys, responsive components and a calm visual language formed the foundations of the work.
Mapping high-value user journeys put practical information needs at the centre of the hospital experience. The design problem spans both finding the right page and understanding what to do once there.
Finding information
Patients and visitors arrive with different levels of familiarity. Clear labels and a recognisable page hierarchy help orient people within a content-rich healthcare website, while priority journeys give the structure a practical focus.
Understanding the next step
A useful page needs more than a destination in the navigation. The order of information must distinguish the main message, supporting detail and next action so that people can progress without unnecessary interpretation.
Using the site across contexts
Responsive components and calm visual hierarchy keep the information structure consistent across screen sizes. The design balances a reassuring presentation with prominence for the details patients and visitors need.

04 / PROJECT DETAIL
The design organised a content-rich environment into clearer page hierarchies and more direct journeys. The visual approach aimed to be calm and reassuring while keeping practical information prominent.
Structure before decoration
The work focused on priority journeys, reusable interface patterns and responsive components. Consistent hierarchy gives each page a familiar structure while allowing the content to reflect a particular patient or visitor need.
Implementation
Handoff guidance supported consistent implementation across priority pages. Reusable patterns also provided a foundation for evolving content without losing the overall structure of the experience.
The work provided a clearer digital structure for hospital information and services.
A consistent route through content
Priority journeys and page hierarchy give patients and visitors a more coherent way to move through the website. The emphasis remains on practical information and clear next steps.
A maintainable design foundation
Reusable responsive patterns support consistency as content evolves. Handoff guidance connects the visual approach with implementation across priority pages.
